About the Book

Since its inception in 2000, Jaish-e-Mohammed, the Pakistan-supported South Asian terrorist group with a pan-Islamist vision, has been responsible for countless terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir and for twice bringing India and Pakistan on the verge of full-fledged war.

This book, the first detailed and comprehensive study of JeM, examines its origins, ideology, organisational structure, financing, strategies and tactics, radicalisation methods, Fidayeen attacks and information networks. Dr Abhinav Pandya’s rigorous field research includes extensive interviews with former and active JeM militants, over-ground workers, journalists, and veteran intelligence and security professionals who have dealt with JeM since its founding, as well as intelligence dossiers, charge sheets of cases and confidential reports on the outfit.

With the return of the Taliban to Afghanistan enhancing JeM’s operational capabilities, this book is critical for an in-depth understanding of JeM’s past, present, and likely future.

Dr Abhinav Pandya, a Cornell University graduate in public affairs and a bachelor’s degree holder from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi, is the founder and CEO of Usanas Foundation, an India-based foreign policy and security think tank. He has authored two books: Radicalization in India: An Exploration (2019) and Terror Financing in Kashmir (2023).
