Yash Garg takes over as DC Gurugram
Yash Garg takes charge of the District Administration of Gurugram as Amit Khatri embarks on a study leave to US.
The Haryana government has appointed Yash Garg as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Gurugram. He will replace Amit Khatri, who had applied for a study leave till October 2022 and will be leaving to pursue a Master’s in Public Administration in Development Practice at Columbia University, New York.
Khatri was appointed as the DC of Gurugram in February 2019, just before the Lok Sabha elections and assembly elections in the state. He replaced Vinay Pratap Singh, who is currently the commissioner of the Municipal Corporations of Gurugram and Faridabad.
Taking over the Administrative Reins
A 2009-batch IAS officer, Garg was earlier posted as Municipal Commissioner in Faridabad from 2019. A native of Sonipat district, he also served as deputy commissioner of Rohtak in 2018 and Rewari in 2017. He has been posted as the director general, industries and commerce, besides also working as the adviser in the civil aviation department.
The new DC holds an MBBS degree from Maulana Azad Medical College and had worked as a junior resident doctor at Lok Nayak Hospital in Delhi. He had ranked sixth in the Union Public Service Commission in 2009.
The district administration officials said the new DC is keen to work on improving infrastructure like water and electricity. He is especially keen on improving road safety in the district. According to administration officials, the other key sectors which the DC will like to focus on are education, health, traffic and sports facilities in the entire district.
