An Initiative Brings Together the local Police and Civil Volunteers for Better Vigil

On the occasion of Holi, a new chapter in Area Residents and Police Cooperation started in Gurugram on 17th March 2022.
J.P. Singh Sahni, Convener, RWA Safety and Security Committee of Sector 15 Part 2, Gurugram, and the local police force led by Civil Lines Police Station SHO inspector Ved Prakash agreed to create a volunteer force to assist the respective police authorities during hours of need. It opens a new chapter in partnership with the public as volunteers give their services to the police force around their area. J.P. Singh Sahni brings a rich experience as a distinguished social worker and awardee of four Guinness World Records. He wears a hat of a former delegate to the United Nations in the Disaster Risk Reduction Programme.
“The selection process of the volunteers for the purpose would be stringent. Only those qualifying for the work assigned would get through who can pledge their loyalty to the police and have no criminal records. These volunteers would be the eyes and ears of Area Police. There will not be any age or education pre-requisite for offering the services of a volunteer to the area police. These volunteers would get trained by the Area Police in various safety measures and disaster management skills and assist the police as and when required,” said J.P. Singh.

The drive at Sector 15, part 2, was flagged off by Sh. L.M. Mehta, IAS (Retd), along with the Area Councilor of Ward 19, Ashwani Sharma, in the presence of the RWA Team. Also present were volunteers Bir Zorawar Sahni, Rohit Yadav, Pawan Goyal, Sumit Saldi, Pradeep Chaudhary, K D Sahni, and Kabir Sahni, a former Special Police officer of Delhi Police. Dr Chander Pal represented RWA teams. Inspector Gurpal Singh from Crime Branch Team, Sector 14, Gurugram, was also present to brief the volunteers.
