Kick start water therapy

Water therapy is a traditional way of beginning each day with a glass of lukewarm water. The habit of drinking 6 to 8 glasses of lukewarm every morning is beneficial not only in losing weight but can cure digestive disorders, keeps the gut healthy, helps in reducing some unidentified pains, asthma, ulcers and more.

Set a reminder to drink water

The idea of water therapy is to increase water intake throughout the day, starting from the morning till you go to bed at night. It is designed to get digestion going and cleansing the body by removing toxins and waste from the body. The daily intake of water during this therapy ranges between 2.7 litres – 3.7 litres per day.

· Immediately upon waking in the morning, drink 1.50 litres of water. It might be difficult to start the protocol in your early days. Start with four glasses, then pause for two minutes, then drink the last two glasses of water.

· Do not eat or drink anything else for 45 minutes before or after drinking the water. Ideally, this should be done the first thing in the morning, even before brushing your teeth.

· After breakfast, lunch and dinner, do not eat or drink anything for two hours.

Drinking water early in the morning improves your health and makes you energetic. To make a habit requires consistent effort. Drinking four glasses of water may not come easy; go slow and gradually increase the water intake. But all of it is worth the effort. 

Other lifestyle benefits 

Water consumption early in the morning is a good antidote to problems like diarrhoea, constipation, acne, urinary disorders, kidney health, to name a few. Women with menstrual cramps and pains, people who have diabetes, headaches, body aches, arthritis, and piles say that morning water therapy eases their symptoms. 

 A soothing warm shower works wonders after a day’s hard work and tiredness. Adding some rock salt or Ipsum salt does wonder in relaxing your body.   

Irrespective of the weather, avoid drinking icy water. Back to nature, your earthen pot has some magic hidden in it! Get one to energise your body system. 

Excess is not advisable

Consumption of water in excess may get you into serious trouble. Consuming over three litres of water in a short interval is also likely to cause water intoxication, causing headache, nausea, fatigue, and sometimes even disorientation. For a healthy you and keep the momentum going, drink water generously and not waste it.
